Ride Philippines 2002

Even in the Philippines we have some comforts of home - Tarlac City, Tarlac.

Just outside of the summer capitol of Baguio, we head toward Banaue via the Halsema Highway.
This was our first time to travel the Halsema Hwy. Later what we found out was the Halsema Hwy would
be nothing more than 12-hours of 1st & 2nd gear travel over rough roads, dirt, rock, and deep ruts!
But it also turned out to be one of the most spectacular scenic areas we have ever seen in the Philippines!

In these secluded mountain areas you will see endless mountains and valleys
covered with vegetable gardens carved out of the mountain sides.

Finally, a 1/8mile piece of concrete road...this calls for a break. Where's the restroom??

Much of the road on this trip looks just like this, and some spots much worse w/ deep ruts waiting on the slopes!

A day later and after some hard riding, we're headed home.

5 Days later, we're back on the road -Vigan, Ilocos Sur (Northwest Luzon)

Caught in the rain. We got lucky and found a little bamboo hut along side the road.

Resting for the night - Iba, Zambales (West Coast of Luzon).
About 4am my bike alarm went off, who or whatever it was was gone when I opened the door.

Sunrise in Iba, Zambalas.

Dec 31, a night at Sheaven's for the New Years celebration. Located on Baloy Beach in Barrio Barretto (Subic Bay).

Oregon was never this nice on New Years!
